Azerbaijan Receives List of Projects Worth $2 bln. From Pakistan, Parties Evaluating Them – President Aliyev
Azerbaijan has received a list of projects worth $2 billion from Pakistan, and the respective parties are currently evaluating them, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
“During my state visit to Pakistan [in 2024], I officially said that Azerbaijan was ready to invest at least $2 billion in various projects in Pakistan. We received the list of projects relatively recently, and our teams are evaluating them,” Aliyev said in Baku during expanded talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.
Aliyev said that the teams have been tasked with “finalizing everything and submitting a report to us on this issue” within a month.
Aliyev said that Azerbaijan and Pakistan have a “very ambitious investment agenda.”
“I am confident that all the issues and many other areas that we will discuss today, as well as our work at the business forum, will lead to a closer partnership between us. We need to bring our economic cooperation to the level of our political ties, and this would be a good demonstration of mutual political will,” he said.
The agreements are expected to cover oil and gas exploration, renewable energy, and infrastructure development, and should serve to strengthen bilateral economic ties, Pakistani publication Profit reported earlier.
