A remarkable Nowruz celebration took place at the Azerbaijani House in the Austrian city of Salzburg. The event brought together Azerbaijanis from various regions of Austria and served to preserve and promote their national values.
The chairman of the Azerbaijani Society in Austria, Farid Azizov, opened the celebration with a welcoming speech, warmly congratulating the attendees on Nowruz and the upcoming Ramadan holiday. He emphasized that Nowruz is one of the oldest festivals passed down from ancestors and represents a special symbol of unity, friendship, and solidarity. He also highlighted the importance of Azerbaijanis living abroad in maintaining their national traditions and passing them on to future generations.
During the celebration, traditional Nowruz elements such as Samani (sprouted wheatgrass), brightly colored eggs, candles, and a festively decorated holiday table were presented to the guests. Participants were also treated to traditional Nowruz sweets such as baklava, shekerbura, and gogal, along with other specialties from Azerbaijani cuisine.
The event was not only a culinary delight but also featured a diverse program. Attendees enjoyed traditional dances, mugham performances, and folk songs. Various Nowruz games, including the traditional egg-tapping contest, as well as other entertaining competitions, were organized for children and young people. Guests who took the floor emphasized the significance of Nowruz for the Azerbaijani people and noted that such events strengthen the community.
At the end of the celebration, participants took group photos to capture the festive atmosphere of the day. The event concluded in a joyful and harmonious spirit.
