Drone Attack on Nakhchivan Condemned by Friends of Azerbaijan Association in France

Paris, March 5, 2026.

The Association of the Friends of Azerbaijan strongly condemns the drone attack that targeted this morning the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, a territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to information made public by the Azerbaijani authorities, several drones struck civilian infrastructure, notably the terminal of Nakhchivan International Airport as well as an area near a school, causing material damage and injuring civilians.

Such an attack against the territory of a sovereign state constitutes a serious violation of international law and dangerously contributes to the escalation of tensions in an already fragile region.

The Association of the Friends of Azerbaijan expresses its full solidarity with the Azerbaijani people and with the inhabitants of Nakhchivan who have been directly affected by this aggression.

In a context of heightened international tensions, it is essential that states respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their neighbors and prioritize dialogue and responsibility.

The Association of the Friends of Azerbaijan will continue to closely monitor the evolution of the situation and reaffirms its commitment to the principles of international law, regional stability, and peace.
