First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva shared on her official Instagram page a publication in connection with the deaths of Azerbaijani journalists as a result of a mine explosion in Kalbajar.
The publication says:
‘With deep sorrow and sadness, I received the news of the death of cameraman of the Azerbaijani Television Siraj Abishov, employee of the Azerbaijan State Information Agency (AzerTAc) Maharram Ibrahimov and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Authority for the Susuzlug rural administrative-territorial district Arif Aliyev, who fulfilling their professional debt were blown up by a mine in the Kalbajar district.
After the end of the war, more than 140 people were blown up by mines planted by the Armenian occupiers in the liberated territories. Of these, 27 were killed. The responsibility for the death of innocent people rests entirely with the military-political leadership of Armenia. Despite numerous calls from the Azerbaijani side to provide maps of minefields, the Armenian leadership refuses to do so, thereby continuing to violate international humanitarian law and carry out a policy of terror against Azerbaijan.
Unfortunately, the calls of the Azerbaijani side to the countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, as well as to various international organisations to put pressure on Armenia in the issue of providing maps of minefields were unsuccessful. International non-governmental organisations, positioning themselves as defenders of the rights of journalists, are still silent.
The Azerbaijani people is the victorious people! It cannot be broken or intimidated!
I express my deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. May Allah rest their souls! May they rest in peace!’
